Comic Books: The One That Hooked Me!

I’ve been eyeing the HD Canon HV20 for a little over a month now, so I decided to take the plunge and get this camcorder. I LOVE IT. I shot some video and hooked it up to our HD tv and it looks simply awesome. In fact, if you are not using a HD camcorder you should walk into whatever closet you have it stored in and smash it. Right now. It is inferior!

Canon actually has a new model out called the HV30, but I’m cheap.

Unfortunately I’ve been hit with some sort of plague for the last several days and have not been able to enjoy this to the fullest. Here is a really quick sample video. I think you actually have to click on it and go to the site to see the HD version.

We put together this video birthday card for the girl’s cousin Caroline. She’s 5! I need better lights and a nicer camera. Put it on the list!

The nice thing about online classes is that they only last 7 weeks, the bad thing is they tend to squeeze 14 weeks of stuff into them. This semester wasn’t too bad though. I had a paper due and my final exam due this weekend. I rocked them and got an A on both of them. Go me! I didn’t even bother taking the extra credit quiz… incase the instructor decides to grade on a curve, I didn’t want to throw it off for everone else.

So to wind down this afternoon I practiced some more with sony vegas. I tried out the “green screen” thing. It didn’t come out too bad. The green isn’t quite the right green but for $5 I am not going to complain. Also, the video is taken with my 5 year old digital camera. I’ve decided that video is the future!

Here’s my latest trailer mashup. I like this one because the story flows better… probably because it’s an actual trailer that I just spliced in clever edits of number 5 from Short Circuit. Everyone loves Short Circuit. I’m mostly making these because I’m teaching myself to use Sony Vegas Pro and also it amuses me. So enjoy: What if Johnny 5 was the Terminator!

I managed to muck up my previous site template, so I’ve moved down the list to the next template. I added one of my vacation photos for the header which makes me smile because it makes me think of someplace warm. I also added a “what I’m reading” section over on the left. It is used in conjuction with Shelfari.

I’ve started using/learning video editing software called Sony Vegas Pro. Today I learned how to make clones! Not too bad for my first try. In the future I should probably avoid impressionable things like sofas.

I was watching the Princess Bride on tv the other day and a quote from the movie made this pop into my head. This is much better than my earlier attempt at editing a mock commercial. It’s more of a drama now than a comedy. Here’s the original trailer for There Will Be Blood.

I actually surprised myself and figured out what parts of multiple songs from the soundtrack were used in the original trailer and I was able to combine them pretty well for my trailer. Let me know of any feedback you may have!
